A student may apply for a Stafford Loan as long as the following requirements are met:

• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status of the U.S. or an eligible trust territory
• Enrollment at least half-time at an eligible school, while maintaining satisfactory academic progress
• Not currently in default on a Federal education loan or owe a refund on any Title IV loan or grant
• Meet selective service requirements

In addition, the student will need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. The FAFSA is available through your financial aid office or on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
