To be eligible for a PLUS Loan, you must also meet these requirements:

For Parents:

• Must be the biological or adoptive parent applying on behalf of your dependent undergraduate student who is eligible for federal financial aid; step parents are eligible if their assets were taken into account in calculating the financial award
• Have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status of the U.S. or an eligible trust territory
• Pass a credit check

For Graduate or Professional Students:

• Must be a Graduate or Professional Student attending an eligible title IV school
• Must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• The School you attend must have determined your maximum eligibility for Federal Stafford loans
• Have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status of the U.S. or an eligible trust territory
• Pass a credit check
